The name was borne by al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ﷺ, the Prophet's eldest son by Khadijah (RA), who died in infancy in Mecca. From him the Prophet ﷺ took his kunya, Abu al-Qasim (Father of Qasim), by which he was addressed throughout his life. The Prophet's other kunya was Abu Ibrahim after his later son with Maria al-Qibtiyya. The name also belongs to al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr (d. 108 AH), one of the seven great jurists of Madinah and the grandson of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq.
