What Abul-Qasim means
Father of Qasim — the Prophet Muhammad's own kunya (Abul-Qasim). Al-Qasim was the Prophet's first son who died as an infant. The Prophet: 'Name yourselves by my name but do not use my kunya (Abul-Qasim)' — Hadith (Bukhari/Muslim). This kunya is thus reserved with special honour.
