What Ba encodes

Ba is the first letter spoken in the Quran — Bismillah begins with Ba. Its form is a horizontal vessel with a single point beneath it, like a boat or a cup. It is the container letter: the principle of enclosure, holding, and the relationship between what contains and what is contained.

Ibn Arabi and the Science of Letters

Ibn Arabi wrote that Ba is the letter through which divine mercy first entered creation — Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim begins with Ba, and before the Ba is said to be a space of infinite meaning. The Sufi tradition holds that the entire Quran is in Al-Fatiha, Al-Fatiha is in Bismillah, and Bismillah is in the Ba — making Ba the seed of the entire revelation. It connects to Al-Batin — the Hidden, the Interior.
