What Zainab Bint Jahsh means
Mother of Believers — Zainab bint Jahsh (RA) is the only wife of the Prophet whose marriage is given directly by Allah in the Quran: 'So when Zayd had no longer any need for her, We married her to you' (33:37). This was to break the pre-Islamic custom of treating an adopted son's former wife as a real daughter-in-law. She was the most generous of the Mothers of Believers to the poor — Aisha said: 'I never saw a woman better in religion, more God-fearing, more truthful, more attentive to family ties, more generous to the poor than Zainab.'.
