Javeria (Arabic Juwayriyya) is the name of a Mother of the Believers. She was taken captive after the Banu al-Mustaliq tribe was defeated. The Prophet freed her and married her, and this act of freeing her prompted the Muslims to free their own captives from her tribe as a mark of respect. Over a hundred families were freed because of Juwayriyya. Aisha said: 'I did not know any woman who was a greater blessing to her people than Juwayriyya.'
