The Letters
Reading Ikhlas through Ilm ul Huroof
Every Arabic name is a sequence of ontological principles. The first letter governs the outward self. The middle letters govern the interior. The final letter governs how things resolve.
Alif (ا) — origin. Kha (خ) — hidden interior. Lam (ل) — divine authority. Alif (ا) — return. Sad (ص) — sincere truth. Sincerity: originary, from hidden depth, authoritative, returning, sincerely truthful.
"A name is not a label assigned after the fact. It is a structure of principles that begins its work the moment it is given."
In the tradition of Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi
The Portrait
What Ikhlas asks of its bearer
The reading of Ikhlas begins with Alif: primary orientation toward being first. Beneath the surface, Kha brings an interior of secrets and subtlety; Lam brings an interior bound by love and attachment. These are the hidden weathers of the name. Ikhlas ends in Sad — the life closes in truth. The whole sequence is one instruction: let sincerity be the practice, not the label.
