What Alyasa means
The Prophet Elisha — from Arabic اليسع (Al-Yasa — Elisha). Alyasa (AS) is mentioned twice in the Quran: 'And Zakariya, Yahya, Eisa, and Ilyas — all were of the righteous. And Ismail, Alyasa, Yunus, and Lut — and all We preferred above the worlds' (6:85-86). Also in 38:48: 'And remember Our servants Ismail, Alyasa, and Dhul-Kifl — all were outstanding.'.
Alyasa (AS) was the companion and successor of the Prophet Ilyas (Elijah). He is described in the Quran with the remarkable distinction: 'preferred above the worlds' — one of the most exalted descriptions given to any prophet.
