Dictionary Meaning
What Sadiq means
The truthful one, the verifier of truth — from the root ص-د-ق (sadaqa — to be truthful, to be trustworthy). The Quran uses the same root in the highest praise of believers: 'O you who believe, fear Allah and be with the truthful (al-sadiqin)' (9:119) — and lists truthfulness as a core attribute of paradise: 'This is the day when the truthful will profit from their truthfulness' (5:119).
The intensified form al-Siddiq (the Most Truthful) became the title of Abu Bakr (RA), the Prophet's closest companion, who earned it by being the first to believe the report of the Mi'raj when Mecca mocked it: 'If he said it, then it is true'. The same title is given in the Quran to the Prophet Yusuf — 'Joseph, the truthful one' (12:46) — and to Maryam: 'And his mother was a siddiqa' (5:75).
The simple form Sadiq belongs above all to Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (d. 148 AH), great-great-grandson of the Prophet ﷺ, teacher of Imam Abu Hanifa and Imam Malik, and the sixth Imam in the Shia tradition. Top Arab, Pakistani, Iranian, and Turkish boys name. Variants: Sadiq, Sadiqu, Sadek, Sadık (Turkish), Sadeq (Persian). The Arabic is صَادِق.

The Portrait
What Sadiq asks of its bearer
Sadiq opens with Sad — an outward self of truth. At the interior, Alif brings an originary axis at the interior; Dal brings an interior of return. These are the inward currents the name carries. The Qaf resolves the name: the life resolves in standing power. What this asks of him: to let the truthful one pass through this whole sequence — opening, interior, close — until it is no longer a label but a way of being.
