Dictionary Meaning
What Hadiya means
From the Arabic hādiya (هادية) — 'guide, the one who shows the way' — feminine of hādī. Al-Hādī (الْهَادِي) is one of Allah's ninety-nine names: 'The Guide'. The Quran uses related forms repeatedly: ihdinā al-ṣirāṭa al-mustaqīm — 'guide us to the straight path' (1:6) — the believer's central daily prayer in Surah al-Fatiha.
An alternate reading derives the name from hadiyya (هدية) — 'gift, present'. The Quran uses related forms: fa-mā ātākumu al-rasūlu fa-khudhūhu — 'whatever the Messenger gives you, take it' (59:7), with hadiyya as the gift between believers. Both readings are current; Pakistani-Urdu name books often gloss as 'gift'; Egyptian Arabic name books often gloss as 'guide'.
Variants: Haadia, Hadya, Hadiyah, Hadeya, Hudaya. Same family: Hadi (m), Mahdi (the rightly-guided), Hidayah (guidance), Huda. Pair-names: Maryam, Aisha, Khadija, Sara.

The Letters
Reading Hadiya through Ilm ul Huroof
Every Arabic name is a sequence of ontological principles. The first letter governs the outward self. The middle letters govern the interior. The final letter governs how things resolve.
Hadiya: Ha (ه) — divine presence. Dal (د) — returning door. Ya (ي) — reaching. Ha (ه) — divine presence again. Divine presence — returning door — reaching — divine presence. The gift and guide: breathing divine presence, always opening the returning door of guidance, reaching toward those who need it, breathing divine presence again. Doubly divine — she is divinely animated at both ends.
"A name is not a label assigned after the fact. It is a structure of principles that begins its work the moment it is given."
In the tradition of Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi
