What Mizan means
The Scale, the balance — from root و-ز-ن (wazana — to weigh). ميزان (Mizan — the scale, the balance). The Quran mentions the Mizan as one of the most important concepts of the Day of Resurrection: 'Wa al-waznu yawma'idhin al-haqq — And the weighing on that Day will be the truth' (7:8). 'Fa-man thaqulat mawazinuhu fa-ula'ika hum al-muflihun — So whoever has heavy scales will be the successful' (7:8). The Mizan also appears in Surah Al-Rahman: 'Wa al-sama'a rafa'aha wa wada'a al-mizan — And the heaven He raised and established the Mizan (balance)' (55:7).
